What is laser skin resurfacing?
CO2 fractional laser skin resurfacing is considered the gold-star standard for treating unwanted wrinkles, fine lines, large pores, age spots, uneven skin texture, scars, and other skin surface abnormalities. Using SmartSkin™ CO2 fractional laser technology, Dr. Kwolek can reduce the signs of aging and sun damage, and help your skin to replenish itself.
This minimally-invasive, state-of-the-art laser works by delivering rapid-pulse, precision beams of energy deep into the dermis of your skin to stimulate collagen growth and tighten underlying layers. The CO2 fractional laser is a minimally-ablative technique, which means it uniformly treats thin layers of skin -- much like a chemical peel or dermabrasion -- to further stimulate collagen production.
What is the treatment like?
After an initial consultation to discuss your goals and talk about what you can expect during the procedure, Dr. Kwolek develops a customized treatment plan designed to meet your needs.
The procedure begins with a topical anesthetic applied to the treatment area, so you’ll feel as comfortable as possible. As the laser scanner passes over the area, it emits small pulses of energy that help to rejuvenate the outer layers of skin and stimulate the growth of underlying collagen. The entire procedure typically takes about 30 minutes.
After the treatment, you’ll probably see some redness and crusting, and feel like you have a mild sunburn. Although some of the effects of SmartSkin CO2 laser treatment are apparent right away, you’ll see more significant improvements as your skin continues to make new collagen.

Facial Capillaries — The excel V™ laser by Cutera® is used to treat the redness from rosacea, veins around your nose, and leg veins with both the 532 and 1064 wavelengths. Dr. Kwolek can also lessen the blue veins around your eyes that tend to be troublesome to cover with concealer.
